Warzone Throwing Knives Get Hit With a Nerf in Season 2 Reloaded

Throwing Knives on the chopping block

Whether it’s the standard Battle Royale mode or Resurgence, the Throwing Knife has become a staple for many Warzone players in the MW3 era. But in the latest Season 2 Reloaded patch, Throwing Knives have been hit with a nerf that will stop players from automatically knocking enemies without hitting a headshot.

In the Season 2 Reloaded patch for Warzone, Throwing Knives received a 25-point decrease in damage. When you throw one of these knives at an enemy player and hit them in a spot like their leg, it will deal 175 damage. Before the update, these lethals would do 200 damage by default, regardless of where you aim them. At first, the 25-point damage change may not seem like a lot, but it changes how they can be used.

With Throwing Knives at a base 175 damage, they won’t be able to one-shot kill anywhere on the body. The only way to get an instant down is to hit an opponent in the head. Anywhere else on the body will require some prior damage or at least two knives to finish the job. So if you’re a player that relies on this equipment in modes like Resurgence, then it’s time to use them more sparingly or for kill confirms.

Throwing Knife Change in Warzone Season 2 Reloaded:

  • Damage reduced to 175, down from 200.
  • The throwing knife will one-shot with impacts to the head or if used on a downed player.

Despite the change to damage, Throwing Knives will still be able to kill downed opponents, which is half the reason why players carry them around. I would still expect tons of players to carry these in each match for their own loadouts, but don’t expect to see the same wild plays that were pulled off by hitting opponents in the toe with a sharp blade.

Instead of smaller blades in Warzone, try out the Soulrender sword as a new melee weapon.
