The Steam Machine Is Finally Here – Pre-Orders, Bundles, and Pricing
Is it too pricey?
After years of development and plenty of anticipation, Valve has finally revealed pricing details and reservation information for the Steam Machine. The new hardware launches with four different purchasing options, ranging from a standard 512GB model to a premium 2TB bundle that includes additional customization options.
While many fans were hoping for a more consumer-friendly price point, Valve explained that rising component costs and ongoing supply chain challenges significantly affected the final pricing and launch availability. Here’s how the Steam Machine is priced for each variant or bundle and how to reserve one.

How the Steam Machine Reservation System Works
To combat scalpers and improve the overall purchasing experience, Valve is implementing a reservation-based system rather than a traditional first-come, first-served launch.
Players can sign up for their preferred Steam Machine model or bundle starting immediately. Registration will remain open until Thursday, June 25 at 10 am PT.
Once registrations close, Valve will conduct a one-time randomization process to determine reservation and waitlist placement.
On June 25, registrants will receive an email with one of two outcomes:
- A reserved spot in the purchase queue, with a Steam Machine allocated in their name.
- Placement on a waitlist for future availability.
Customers who secure a reservation won’t be charged immediately. Instead, Valve will send purchase invitations as inventory becomes available.
The first round of purchase emails is scheduled to begin on June 29, with additional invitations rolling out as more units are manufactured and shipped.
