Now that The Sims 4 infant update is available for us to enjoy, we can start caring for and appreciating our little bundles of joy. With these additions also came some other fun gameplay mechanics, including the option to have children instantly.

Wait, instantly? Well, almost instantly. However, you’ll have to get creative and spend some hard-earned Simoleons to do this.

Typically, when you have a pregnant Sim in The Sims 4, you must wait weeks in-game before getting a child. While yes, this is technically still the same following the update, you now have the option to hasten the process.

With the Sims 4 Infant update came the introduction of surrogacy, also known as having science babies in the game. For a 1200 Simoleon fee, you can either have a science baby as a single parent or undergo this process with another Sim. While you can do it with a romantic partner, you’re more than welcome to pick a non-romantic Sim!

Following this, your Sim briefly disappears and exits the world and, after a few seconds, returns with a baby! You don’t have to wait weeks for it to happen, and you don’t get any negative moodlets.

The Infants update also added new clothing and furniture options to help with childcare, including new cribs, toys and decorative items to make your home feel child-friendly. It’s available now for you to download and play as a free update to The Sims 4, with the Growing Together Expansion coming on March 16, 2023.

The Sims 4 is available on PC, Mac, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 through the official website. To learn more about the game, check out The Sims 4 Infant and Toddler Differences Explained.
