MTG has introduced a great set of cards from the Final Fantasy universe, but I can’t help but think… where are Tifa and Aerith?

Magic: The Gathering X Final Fantasy Reveals an Amazing Set of New Commanders

Wizards of the Coast teased both Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy fans by showing a few cards of their upcoming Magic: The Gathering X Final Fantasy set. The collaboration was announced long ago, but this is the first time we see cards that include Final Fantasy’s most popular characters like Cloud, Sephiroth, Yuffie, Y’shtola, and more.

Most revealed characters come from Final Fantasy VII, with a few from Final Fantasy XIV and X, like Tidus, Y’shtola, and Emet-Selch.

Players are already salivating over potential commander decks once the set hits the market. However, where are the red cards from the set, and what more can we expect?

MTG X Final Fantasy’s Next Reveal Might Bigger and More Explosive

There is no question that there will be way more cards in the set, and as a fan of Final Fantasy and Magic: The Gathering, it makes sense to get everyone from the franchise into the TCG.

The characters revealed mostly came from Final Fantasy VII because FFVII Rebirth recently released on Windows, and we are also nearing the first anniversary of FFVII Rebirth’s release, which was back on February 29, 2024.

However, we still miss Tifa, Aerith, Barret, and Zack. Tifa and Aerith are probably the most iconic Final Fantasy characters of all time, which we can surely expect on their next reveal.

Apart from Final Fantasy VII characters, we already saw Lightning Farron as a massive banner on their site, meaning she’s basically confirmed as another card.

Fans might also see some favorites like Noctis, Ignis, and Clive or even supporting characters like Lunafreya, Cindy, Rikku, Vivi, and more.

So far, Square Enix is on pace to include literally all of Final Fantasy’s most popular characters. June 13, 2025, couldn’t come any sooner!
