Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead has been racking up some well-deserved Game of the Year honors, including a major win at the Spike Video Game Awards and accolades across various websites.  But just in case you haven’t seen what all the hubbub is about (or you’ve just been too scaredy cat to try), the company is giving you a second chance to give it a taste.

Telltale has announced that the first chapter of the series is now available for download free of charge on Xbox Live Marketplace.  In the intro episode, you’re introduced to the main “hero”, Lee, as he escapes police custody and runs across a young kid named Clementine, declaring to protect her from the undead while working with (and against) others in a fight for survival.

The chapter is only free for a limited time (it goes back up to 400 Microsoft points after the first of the year), so we humbly suggest that you get to downloading so you can see why it’s so heavily applauded as one of the year’s best.  Then buy the rest of the game, just to see how it unfolds…
