The long-running and much-loved Tales of series will celebrate its 30th anniversary this upcoming December in 2024. As part of the celebration, the classic title Tales of Graces f will be remastered and brought to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on January 17, 2025.
Tales of Graces was originally released on the Wii in 2009, while the enhanced port, Tales of Graces f, released on the PlayStation 3 in 2010. Tales of Graces f Remastered will, as the name suggests, contain all the upgrades of Graces f, including an extra playable character and an additional story chapter. The remaster will also include the original game’s DLC, which predominantly consists of character costumes.
Besides the usual graphical upgrade of a remaster, this newest outing for Tales of Graces f will also include some welcome quality of life additions. Besides auto save, there will also be an option to toggle enemy encounters on or off. While mobs are on the overworld and can normally be avoided with quick thinking and maneuvering, turning off enemy encounters in the game’s options menu will allow you to simply walk through them no matter the situation. This is a fantastic option for players who want to do a challenge run, or who want to revisit areas but not have to deal with enemy encounters along the way.
While the improved graphics and new features are no doubt an exciting element of this remaster, the biggest victory is that this is a big step forward in having classic Tales of titles—that aren’t Vesperia or Symphonia—accessible on modern platforms. Tales of Graces f Remastered will be the first time the game has been re-released since 2010 on PlayStation 3. Additional announcements are expected leading up to the Tales of 30th anniversary in December, but in the meantime, this newest outing for Tales of Graces f will be well worth the wait.
