Move over, Nintendo Switch! The pixelated farm management sim Stardew Valley is headed to PS Vita this month, according to an announcement today on the official Stardew Valley blog. If you want to play Stardew Valley on the go and don’t own a Switch, then mark your calendars for next week, as Stardew Valley is scheduled to release for PS Vita on Tuesday, May 22.
The Stardew Valley developers briefly mentioned a potential PS Vita port back in January 2017 and have since turned the prospect into a reality. “Stardew Valley on-the-go is a lot of fun, so I’m very excited to bring it to a great portable console like the PS Vita!” said Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone, who goes by ConcernedApe online. “I look forward to hearing about your experiences in Stardew Valley.”
If you already own a copy of Stardew Valley on PlayStation 4, then you’re in luck. The new PS Vita port for Stardew Valley will be a part of Sony’s cross-buy program, which means that you only need one copy of the game either on PS4 or PS Vita in order to play it on both platforms. So, if you own or pick up a copy of Stardew Valley for PS4, then you’ll automatically have access to Stardew Valley on PS Vita as well.
In other news, Stardew Valley has been gearing up to release a full multiplayer co-op mode for Stardew Valley, which has recently begun beta testing on both Steam and GOG. The team at Chucklefish have been working closely with Barone to develop the multiplayer functionality in Stardew Valley. They have also announced the name of their upcoming magic school RPG, WitchBrook, which seems to be essentially Stardew Valley meets Harry Potter.
