It’s Sonic the Hedgehog’s 25th anniversary this year, a wonderful earmark for a great character – but why doesn’t he have a new game to celebrate? The last major game release we’ve seen in the Sonic franchise was the below-average Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, and we need another game to make us happy that we’re Sonic fans.
Not to worry, as one is on the way. Famitsu has confirmed that Sonic Team is hard at work on a new Sonic the Hedgehog game. No other details are available at this time, sadly, but with San Diego Comic-Con coming up next month – and the ‘Hog always having big presence at the event – we should know more very soon.
We’re crossing our fingers for a sequel to Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed or, dare to dream, Sonic Generations. It’d certainly make a fitting anniversary present.
