Archie Comics may not be the most ideal when it comes to crossovers – remember when The Punisher teamed up with them for a while? – but it does have some interesting projects now and then, so we won’t criticize too much.
Among its most recent crossovers is a newly announced project that will bring together two of gaming’s biggest icons in a 12-part series, set to kick off in 2013. Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog and Capcom’s Mega Man will team up for a trailblazing new adventure, one that will be considered one of the most “acclaimed and best-selling comic cross-overs ever,” according to Archie reps.
“We’ve had a long, fruitful history with Sonic and are enjoying great success with Mega Man in all our markets. Bringing these characters together was something we’ve been hoping for since we got both licenses, so this is very much a dream come true for the company,” said Archie Comics Co-CEO Jon Goldwater.
Ian Flynn, who has worked on both franchises, is penning the story. We’ll see what comes of it when it hits store shelves next year. Maybe they’ll team up and pound Reggie to a pulp.
