Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Writers Working on Ace Ventura 3

Film production company Morgan Creek has been active since the late 80s with films like Young Guns, The Exorcist III, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

In a feature from Park Circus on Morgan Creek, it was revealed that Ace Ventura 3 is happening and that the Sonic the Hedgehog writers will be working on the project.

“We’re pretty excited about our franchise developments with ‘Exorcist’ and the ‘Ace Ventura’ franchise – it’s noticeable from the 3 million fans chatting on the official Facebook page for Ace Ventura that audiences are clamouring for a third installment…

During COVID, audiences have been in love and are thrilled to have beloved characters brought back with new stories. Ace Ventura will see a new day at Amazon as a major motion picture/theatrical with the Sonic the Hedgehog writers.”

Not only will Ace Ventura 3 share writers with the Sonic the Hedgehog films, it’ll likely also share an actor as Jim Carrey – who starred in both Ace Ventura films – played Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog.

While Jim Carrey hasn’t been confirmed for Ace Ventura 3 as of the time of this writing, we couldn’t imagine an Ace Ventura movie without Carrey returning as Ace.

Looking over the rest of the piece from Park Circus, Morgan Creek mentions a few other notable projects that might be coming in the future, so if you’re a fan of Morgan Creek’s films there are more to look forward to than just Ace Ventura 3.

Specifically, Morgan Creek mentions properties like Clive Barker’s Nightbreed, Stay Tuned, and Dead Ringers as projects that have eyes on them.

“Moving forward, we aim to continue to work with visionary filmmakers (as we have always done) and deliver the type of experiences that audiences love.

Nightbreed has garnered the attention of Michael Dougherty, who most recently directed Godzilla vs. Kong, and the gem Stay Tuned, a dark comedy classic from 1992, originally starring John Ritter and Pam Dawber, is being developed for AMC with the Fear the Walking Dead producers at the showrunner helm.

As we mentioned earlier, Dead Ringers is being written by the critically lauded British writer Alice Birch (Succession, Normal People), with Rachel Weisz attached.”

Morgan Creek also plans to nurture the Exorcist franchise with Blumhouse.

“We are really looking forward to nurturing the Exorcist franchise with Blumhouse. It’s a franchise that we are honoured to steward. Having the visionary David Gordon Green onboard to direct ensures it’s in good hands.”

And there you have it, we’re getting a third entry in the Ace Ventura franchise with the Sonic the Hedgehog writers on board, and we’re also going to see new content from other classic properties like the Exorcist.

Be sure to check out the full feature from Park Circus, and check back as we’ll be sharing updates on the Sonic the Hedgehog writers’ involvement in Ace Ventura 3 as new information is made available.
