The music of the Silent Hill franchise is as iconic and essential as its foggy streets. Akira Yamaoka remains a towering presence, and his work has influenced numerous modern composers, including PILOTPRIEST, the composer for Silent Hill Townfall, who has now shared their first track for the upcoming title.

Silent Hill Townfall First Official Track – Home

Anthony Scott Burns, aka PILOTPRIEST, is a film director, composer, and a major fan of Akira Yamaoka’s work on the Silent Hill franchise. He is composing the soundtrack for Silent Hill Townfall and working alongside Byron Bullock, who previously worked on the acclaimed horror title Alien: Isolation.

Burns has debuted the first track for Silent Hill Townfall, set to visuals of in-game locations in St. Amelia, the main setting of the upcoming title. Give it a listen below:

Anthony Scott Burns confirmed that Silent Hill Townfall will feature a fully dynamic score system that reacts to player behavior and enemy encounters, with Burns working closely alongside the audio team to craft adaptive musical layers. Like every other aspect of the title, the team says the goal is to deliver something emotionally honest and rooted in fear while staying true to the spirit of Silent Hill.

Burns described the project as a long-standing dream and one of the most natural creative collaborations of his career. Screen Burn’s writer and director, Jon McKellan, said the team knew Burns was the right fit after reviewing early demos, adding that his work “evokes visuals,” magnifying the overall experience.

Based on a few listens, I think it’s safe to say that “Home” definitely feels like a Silent Hill track. It’s melodic with an underlying sadness that perfectly suits the tone you’d expect from the series. I’m excited to hear the full soundtrack once Silent Hill Townfall releases, but everything revealed so far has me feeling pretty positive about the project.

You can check out the announcement at Screen Burn’s official website with thoughts from game director Jon McKellan and composer PILOTPRIEST. If you’re interested in checking out more of PILOTPRIEST’s work, you can watch Come True, which they directed and scored.

Silent Hill Townfall is coming to PC and PS5 later this year. It’s published by KONAMI and Annapurna Interactive and developed by Screen Burn Interactive, previously known as No Code. It’s being developed on Unreal Engine 5, just like Silent Hill f. It was announced in 2022, and we only got a proper look this year during Sony’s State of Play, which showcased its first-person gameplay.
