Silent Hill 2 Returns as a Playstation 5 Exclusive Developed by Bloober Team

The original Silent Hill 2 was released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2. With many other entries coming after, the franchise, on the whole, has been dormant for quite some time.

The remake of Silent Hill 2 will also be a PlayStation 5 console exclusive and on Steam. This was confirmed during the reveal stream, which can be seen below.

Silent Hill 2 will also feature an over-the-shoulder camera perspective for a more “immersive” experience. This is a massive change from the fixed-camera angles of the original title. A modernized control scheme and tools bring the title to a more modern audience. There is plenty of gameplay shown in the reveal, as well as a comparison to the original.

Concept Artist Masahiro Ito and Composer Akira Yamaoka are working with Bloober Team to help bring Silent Hill 2 to life in this new remake. The stream features small snippets of conversations with the two talking about their work on the original title.

Silent Hill 2 does not have an official release date. We don’t know when we will hear about it next, but we look forward to learning more down the road. Right now, all we know is that it is available to wishlist on the PlayStation Store and Steam and that it will come to PlayStation 5 as a console exclusive.

There were plenty of other announcements during the Silent Hill Transmission live stream, such as a new game being developed by the creators of Observation and Storie Untold and a new Silent Hill game currently titled “Silent Hill F.”
