Apparently Nintendo has big plans for the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario franchise, including major re-releases and remasters. According to a recent report by VGC, several insider sources ‘confirmed’ to the site that Nintendo is working on re-releasing a few fan-favorites over to the Nintendo Switch library in addition to a few remasters.
The report also states that in addition to the remasters and ports that a few new Mario adventures are on the way, including a brand new Paper Mario, which honestly is the best thing since sliced bread so I’m excited. I’m also hoping that one of those plans of resurgence includes the Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars because it was incredible and everyone should play that game at least once.
The site also reports that Nintendo has other big plans in the works as well, including a new partnership with Universal, a new animated Super Mario film, and more theme park attractions for when all of this quarantine business is over and done with.
Though Nintendo has opted not to comment on the recent leak, this does mark 35 years of Super Mario, which is a huge milestone and definitely deserves all of the celebrations! The 30th anniversary also gave us those awesome 8-bit amiibo figures, so honestly excited to see what the 35th anniversary will bring.
