If there’s one company out there that’s near and dear to our hearts, it’s Media Molecule. They’ve done so well with the first two LittleBigPlanet games, and outsourced some great folks for side projects like LittleBigPlanet Vita and LittleBigPlanet Karting. But we were a little surprised when we heard this morning that they might not be working on LittleBigPlanet 3.
The developers, who are currently working on the innovative PS Vita game Tearaway, seem a bit too busy to work on LBP 3…but that doesn’t mean it isn’t in the works. Rumor has it that they’ve tasked Sumo Digital to work on the sequel, a surprising choice considering they’re usually privy to working on Sega franchises, like the recently released Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed.
Neither Sony nor Sumo Digital had any comment on the matter, as it’s likely being saved for an official announcement at E3 – or perhaps even sooner, at the company’s supposed PlayStation 4 revealing on February 20th. But still, it’ll be interesting to see what Sumo does with the franchise.
And let’s not forget Tearaway. It’s due this summer for the PS Vita. We’ll have a preview soon.
