There’s been a lot of talk about the next Grand Theft Auto and DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2, but what many aren’t speaking on is the possibility of a brand new IP from the team over at Rockstar. Put down the guns and horses, friends, because apparently we could be going back in time to the medieval era – at least if recent rumors are to be believed.
The latest in the rumor mill comes courtesy of Reddit user ‘Iknowstuff312‘. According to the source that provided accurate GTA leaks and Red Dead Redemption 2 narrative leaks, Rockstar is hard at work on a new game that is set during medieval times with an announcement that “isn’t that long away” ahead of an alleged Q1 2021 launch.
According to the Redditor, “Rockstar’s next game will not be Bully 2 or GTA 6. They are developing an open world game with a medieval setting. Swordfighting/dueling will be a mechanic. Release date aimed for Q1 2021. The announcement isn’t that long away.
“Obviously sounds crazy and you have no reason to believe me, but as I said they have been very reliable before. I fully believe time will prove me right. Asking me anything more is pretty useless as I don’t know anything other than what I’ve said.”
While intriguing, there’s nothing out there currently that supports this leak and goes against the heavy focus of other IPs currently in the works. As we say with all leaks: Until Rockstar themselves confirms the news, take all leaks and rumors – no matter how exciting they may seem – with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made.
Pretending for a moment that this has been confirmed, would you be interested in seeing a Rockstar medieval experience, or would you rather them focus on something else like the next Bully game? Sound off with your thoughts over on Twitter @PrimaGames and tell us what you’d like to see next.
