Pokemon Legends: Arceus Players Can Receive Shaymin For Playing Pokemon Sword and Shield

Get a free Shaymin for your troubles.

Pokemon Brillant Diamond and Shining Pearl are just a couple of weeks away however, Nintendo announced this morning that players with save data from either Pokemon Sword and Shield will have the chance to catch the mythical Pokemon Shaymin in Pokemon Legends: Arceus when it releases in January.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Players Can Receive Shaymin For Playing Pokemon Sword & Shield

Having save data from Sword or Shield will give you the research request in Legends that will unlock the Land Forme of Shaymin. 

You won’t have access to capturing the Pokemon until after beating Legends and will be available for pickup in Jubilife Village after the game’s completion. 

Shaymin isn’t the only reward for playing Sword and Shield though. You’ll also unlock the special Shaymin Kimono Set for your playable character to wear on their adventures. The Nintendo website states “It will take approximately one hour of playtime to reach the point where this option is available.”  

So unlock capturing Shaymin, the Kimono Set will be available after only an hour of playing. 

Furthermore, if you have Pokemon let’s Go Eevee or Pikachu save data, you’ll unlock wearable masks for each respective Pokemon in Legends as well. 

Shaymin was introduced as an event Pokemon in the original Diamond and Pearl.
