Pokemon Legends: Arceus Is A Brand-New Open World Game Coming In 2022

During the Pokemon Presents video Presentation this morning the Pokemon Company had multiple announcements including gameplay for New Pokemon Snap, the rumored Diamond and Pearl Remakes, and a brand new Pokemon game entirely.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Is A Brand-New Open World Game Coming In 2022

That new Pokemon game is called Pokemon Legends: Arceus and will release in early 2022. Pokemon Legends is an entirely new style of Pokemon game, drawing quick comparisons to Breath of the Wild from fans.

It takes place in the Sinnoh region, long before the events of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Villagers had moved here to build up the Sinnoh region as we know it today, and that’s where your adventure begins. In this brand-new open-world adventure we see the trainer hiding in the grass and throwing Poke Balls in real-time to capture Pokemon.

The battle system is still turn-based, but the animations and camera work is all new. You can check out the trailer for Pokemon Legends: Arceus below.

You’ll have a choice of three familiar starting Pokemon, all from previous games. You can either choose Rowlett, Oshawott, or Cyndaquill on this new adventure through a pre-Sinnoh region.

“As Trainers explore the natural expanses in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, they’ll encounter Pokémon that call these grand vistas home. To catch wild Pokémon, players can study the Pokémon’s behaviors, sneak up to them, then throw Poké Balls. Players can also battle wild Pokémon with their ally Pokémon. By throwing the Poké Ball holding their ally Pokémon near a wild Pokémon, players will seamlessly enter battle. This new gameplay angle is intended to provide Trainers with an immersive experience.”

The Pokemon Company stated this game will have a simultaneous worldwide release in Early 2022. So until then, we will just have to enjoy New Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl.
