It appears that new Lucky Pokémon are headed to Pokémon GO as part of the next update, which will be available soon for players on both iOS and Android devices. In a recent blog post titled, “Lucky Pokémon Are Ready for a New Adventure,” Niantic revealed the traits that Lucky Pokémon have and what Trainers should look for to determine whether they’ve found one in Pokémon GO.

According to Professor Willow’s findings, Pokémon have a chance of transforming into a glittery Lucky Pokémon upon being traded in Pokémon GO. Lucky Pokémon will have a sparkly background and will cost less Stardust to power up, which means Trainers can level the Combat Power of these Pokémon variants much faster than a regular one. Lucky Pokémon will also be labeled as such in the Pokédex to avoid confusion.

Niantic also mentioned that the longer a Pokémon sits in a Trainer’s storage, the higher their chances will be of transforming into a Lucky Pokémon when traded. The developers didn’t mention any other specifics for triggering Lucky Pokémon, but they did say that Trainers should “stay posted for more results from the professor’s research.”

Along with the arrival of Lucky Pokémon, the latest update also introduces a few changes to the way Gifts work in Pokémon GO. According to Niantic, Gifts can now include special new surprises. Gifts now have the chance of containing Stardust in addition to their regular contents. Trainers who give Gifts to their friends in Pokémon GO will now receive XP for doing so as well.

Gifting and Trading features were introduced to Pokémon GO earlier this summer, in addition to the long-awaited Friendship System. Trainers can now befriend one another in-game to trade Pokémon in-person or exchange Gifts. Check out our Pokémon GO guides for additional tips and tricks for Pokémon GO.
