Pikmin returns! While it isn’t Pikmin 4, Nintendo has revealed that Pikmin 3 Deluxe is on its way to Nintendo Switch devices everywhere and it arrives soon! To share the big news, the team over at Nintendo debuted a new trailer for fans to enjoy before the game’s October release date.
Pikmin 3 first launched back on the Wii U back in 2013 but with the console’s poor reception, it didn’t get the chance it should have. The Deluxe version of Pikmin 3 gives this title a new lease on life while also offering a few new goodies for players to enjoy like co-op for the campaign and brand new story DLC as well.
As for what the Wii U version of the game had, all Mission Mode DLC stages will also be seen in the deluxe edition in Pikmin 3. The upcoming Switch launch will also feature a new multiplayer mode called Bingo Battle, which is pretty much a last-man-standing game mode for those that want a bit more of a competitive edge in-game.
According to the Nintendo UK’s site, here is everything that’s new with Pikmin 3 Deluxe:
- 2P co-op: Journey through the main story in two-player co-op on the same console
- New adventures: Go it alone or team up with a friend to take on a brand new prologue and epilogue stories starring Pikmin and Pikmin 2 heroes Olimar and Louie
- Quality of Life improvements: Expand your exploration with an enhanced lock-on targeting system, enemy balance changes, multiple difficulty modes, optional hints, and more
- Piklopedia: Unlock profile entries for each character and find out their unique perspectives on each creature you discover
Pikmin 3 was a true treasure; it offered a sense of accomplishment alongside a strange sense of calm, it had adorable characters, it provided a strategic journey, and it also gifted players with a sense of adventure through discovery and care for found creatures. To take this adventure on the go with the Nintendo Switch is going to be incredible and it will give this game the chance it didn’t quite see with the Wii U.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe arrives on October 30 for Nintendo Switch owners. Are you excited to dive back into the world of Pikmin? Sound off with your thoughts over on Twitter @PrimaGames, we’d love to hear what you think about the latest title to make its way over onto the Switch library.
