PETA Sets Sights On Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Can Shut Up Any Time Now

If you love animals, don't support PETA.

The general rule of thumb is that if you love animals and support animal rights then the best thing you can do is not support PETA in any way shape or form. This organization started out in a beautiful way with wonderful ideas and somewhere down the line became worse than the people they rally against. Massive kill shelters, theft of animals, and just overall being very nasty to anyone that isn’t 100% pure vegan. When getting your message out, threatening and attacking people usually aren’t the way to go but PETA went all extremist and their latest game in their crosshairs? Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

With all of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons out there, PETA decided to make their own: a vegan-style guide to take a more “animal-friendly” approach to the game. Simple enough, even understandable if you’re super passionate, but in true PETA form it went from harmless help to “They can’t be serious…” really quick. While the organization did give props to the game for giving the option to leave animals alone once discovered, they did say that player’s shouldn’t donate to Blathers’ museum. Oh, and something about the Nook family being anally electrocuted to death and by buying from them supports … uh, anal torture.

Don’t get me wrong, the whole article wasn’t a wash. It talks about eating a fruit-only diet, which is common with vegans, and other ways to build upon an animal-friendly game experience. That being said, they can never just stick to logic. After calling Pokemon murder and going after a plethora of games – including children’s games – I think it’s just time for PETA to sit this one out and take the L. Maybe refocus on the original mission statement, perhaps.

Regardless of Nook’s familial anal torture or no, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch!
