Path of Exile 2’s 0.1.1 Patch Preview Addresses Almost All Major Problems Except for One

Great changes all around!

Path of Exile 2’s early access launch was both well-received and rocky at the same time. There were several positives but a lot of negatives in the game. However, since the early access launch had a holiday break after a few weeks, some of the bad and clunky stuff was left in the game. Path of Exile 2’s 0.1.1 patch preview announcement fixes most of these issues except for one grueling problem.

Path of Exile 2’s 0.1.1 Patch Summary

Big changes are coming, and here is a short version of what to expect in patch 0.1.1:

  • Maps will generally get more rewarding through more monsters.
  • Towers will get more diverse. There will be four more Towers.
  • New Boss Tablets – Precursor Tablet that adds map bosses to the area
  • Visual clutter reduction.
  • Quality of life changes like showing specific biomes for maps when hovering over them.
  • League mechanics are buffed: Ritual, Delirium, and Expedition.
  • Citadels can now be seen through the fog of war.
  • Useless unique gets buffed.
  • Runes can now be overwritten with other Runes.
  • Consoles finally get item filters.

Every single line above is a significant change in the positive direction. Endgame receives a massive buff to loot with more towers, a boss tablet, and improved league mechanic rewards.

Visual effects have been reduced, giving players more awareness of dodging dangerous attacks or ground explosions. Most players hoped the on-death explosions would disappear, but this is good enough. I guess.

The ability to overwrite Runes with other Runes or Soul Cores slightly changes how players gear. It’ll also spice up the market since amazing gear turned useless because of the wrong Rune or Soul Core socketed will now be useable.

What Path of Exile 2’s 0.1.1 Patch Missed

While all of these changes are definitely great, GGG missed one crucial thing to add – a Map or Waystone stash tab. Players not having a way to place their Waystones somewhere is a big nuisance in the endgame.

If you are playing hundreds and hundreds of Tier 15 Waystones, you’ll always get a surplus of Waystones. These extra Waystones eat up a lot of stash space from players, especially those who don’t have extra Premium Stash Tabs to work with.

Most players use their money to buy useful tabs like a Currency tab first, but a Waystone tab will help declutter all stashes from endgame players in a second.

While the Waystone stash tab is practically confirmed because Path of Exile 1 players will have their stash tabs converted for free in Path of Exile 2, it is hard to imagine how this wasn’t prioritized. In Path of Exile 1, the map tab was the most expensive stash tab in the game because it is one of the most useful. Path of Exile 2 is in the same boat, which is why it is a nuisance to have so many Waystones or roll them the way you want because of the lack of space for most players.

Jonathan Rogers from GGG confirmed that they are aware of many problems in the game, and if they weren’t fixed or addressed, it is likely that the issue isn’t easy to fix or it is better introduced during their economic reset.

While it is understandable, maybe an “affinity” feature would’ve sufficed in the meantime, so it’ll be easier to dump those Waystones easily instead of manually swapping through stash tabs to dump them.
