Overwatch 2 Season 4 Trailer Showcases Cardboard Reinhardt, Pinocchio Zenyatta… and Giant Shield Brigitte?

Season 4 of Overwatch 2 will release next week on April 11. And there are quite a few things we can look forward to.

All New Overwatch 2 Hero Lifeweaver

The Season 4 Trailer, which ran only two minutes, highlighted the most recently announced hero, Lightweaver. Lightweaver is a support character that focuses primarily on utility by creating platforms, re-positioning teammates, and providing burst healing. Players naturally went feral when Lifeweaver was first revealed, but the Season 4 trailer gave us more of a look into his abilities.

All New Battle Pass Cosmetics in Overwatch 2’s Season 4

We also received a glimpse into what we can expect from the Season 4 Battle Pass, which is meant to be Space Opera themed. But, as we’ve seen in the past, that doesn’t mean that the cosmetics will hold hard and true to that theme.

The Battle Pass cosmetics we’ve seen so far are skins for Hanzo and Lifeweaver, which are likely to be on the free track. There are also a series of victory emotes for Doomfist, Kiriko, Mercy, Life Weaver, Hanzo, D.Va, and Ana.

The Premium track seems to have skins for Mercy, Soldier: 76, and Sojourn, Hammond, Lucio, Torbjorn, and Doomfist.

The Mythic Skin at the end of the Battle Pass will go to our favorite scientist, Sigma. This skin is called Galactic Emperor, and, like past Mythic Skins, its design is fantastic and customizable.

All New Shop Skin in Overwatch 2’s Season 4

Outside of the Battle Pass, two new exclusive skins have been announced for Zenyatta and Reinhardt, which will only be available in the shop. Zenyatta will receive a Pinocchio skin and Reinhardt will get a cardboard armor skin. Pinocchio Zenyatta looks like my sleep paralysis demon.

The shop will also have a new emote for Zenyatta, a black Lifeweaver Skin, an Omnic-inspired skins for Junkrat and Roadhog, and a harlequin-esque skin for Widowmaker.

New Game Modes, Maps, Pride, and Reworks

Finally, it seems like we’ll get a new game mode called Starwatch, from May 9 – 22. This game mode features an alien Winston skin, which might be exclusive to the event. While we only get a small glimpse at Winston’s background, it looks to me to be the Lunar Colony map we haven’t seen since Overwatch 1.

A community-made map will also premiere later this month. This map is called Talantis. Inspired by the mythical city Atlantis, Talantis showcases a vertical map with plenty of corners and corridors for some sneaky plays.

Lifeweaver and Symmetra will both be getting challenges, which will allow players to grab some verdant skins for free. Lifeweaver’s Challenge doesn’t have a start date, but we can assume it will happen shortly after his release. Symmetra’s challenge will begin on May 23 and end later that week on the 29.

Overwatch 2 has also announced on Twitter that they’ll be doing something for Pride month. But as of right now, we don’t know what that will look like, beyond Pride flags in the Midtown map.

But one of the biggest changes to Season 4 will come in the form of Brigitte’s new Ultimate. Previously, Brigitte’s Ultimate, Rally, would have her lift her mace and charge forward with a short-term boost of speed that provided long-lasting armor to her nearby allies. Her new Ultimate will have more utility, as her shield will expand outwards, like Reinhardt’s. Is this the resurrection of the two-shield meta? We’ll have to wait and see.

Other cosmetics that haven’t been given an explicit home are a vaporwave Tracer, a cyborg-esque Baptiste, and space cowboy Ashe and Bob, a masked Ramattra, extra roboty Echo, and a dark villain Brigitte.

These are some of the best skins unveiled in quite some time and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited. If you want to see just how excited some fans are, check out this article: Overwatch 2 Fans Are Going Absolutely Feral for New Hero Lifeweaver.
