Overwatch 2 Goes Space Western With Upcoming Cowboy Bebop Collaboration

See you, space cowboy.

Overwatch 2’s collaborations thus far have been as outlandish as they have been silly, and have been pretty successful to boot. The Le Sserafim collab saw a lot of love from KPop fans, while One Punch Man fans found love in the fact that power-fist extraordinaire Doomfist got the role of Saitama. However, it looks like the team is showing no sign of stopping. Today, Blizzard has announced that Overwatch 2 will be getting a previously-teased collaboration with everyone’s favorite space western Cowboy Bebop.

The event itself will see Cassidy, Ashe, Mauga, Sombra, and Wrecking Ball get skins themed around various characters in the show, with the Wrecking Ball skin promised to be earnable for free. These skins will be revealed a day before their official release in-game on March 12, alongside new emotes, highlight intros, and music from the show making its way into the game.

On the topic of this new collab, Overwatch 2 Associate Director Aimee Dennett said the team is “honored” to be collaborating with one of the biggest anime series of all time and that they hope fans “have as much fun with what we’re bringing to Overwatch 2 as we did in creating it.”

While I’ve never watched Cowboy Bebop myself (yes, you’re free to throw tomatoes. I understand), the infamy of the series is difficult to ignore. Every anime fan I know loves the series to death and sings its praises constantly, including some friends whom I play Overwatch with on occasion. I’m sure they’ll be in love with it, especially since they’ve mentioned wanting Cassidy as Spike Spiegel for a while now. Even given my ignorance, it’d be cool to imagine some of these characters in the various outfits.

You can check out all the Cowboy Bebop cosmetics and various changes in-game starting March 12. For now, I’ll be over here hyped over imagining skins for other properties like Master Chief: 76 and Baird Torbjorn. If you know, you know.
