The Outer Worlds from Obsidian games is pretty much Fallout: New Vegas in space, which is pretty awesome for those looking for a sequel to Obsidian’s take on the Fallout universe. With different characters to meet and influence and a new questline to take on, the studio’s upcoming IP is set to scratch that particular RPG itch that many gamers are having.
While we knew choices would be a huge factor in the studio’s newest game, lead designer Charles Staples opened up a little bit more about how much of an impact those choices can have on the title’s ending.
“We are ending the game with end slides that say this is the outcome of the game based on your choices and actions,” said Staples in an interview with DualShockers. “Based off of different things that you’ve done, it will have drastically different effects.”
There won’t be romances in-game, but there will be tons of NPCs that the player will need to “woo” in order to gain their loyalty. Bypassing quests too can totally offset the ending, so completion – at least to a certain extend – will be absolutely key.
Though we don’t have a release date at this time for The Outer Worlds, we do at least know what the RPG has to offer:
“In The Outer Worlds, you awake from hibernation on a colonist ship that was lost in transit to Halcyon, the furthest colony from Earth located at the edge of the galaxy, only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy it. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.”
