Earlier this year, there was a massive rumor that circulated that Lady Gaga would be in Cyberpunk 2077 following a correspondance between the singer-turned-actress and CD Projekt RED on Twitter. Since then, the rumor festered and with the big reveal of Keanu Reeves’ character – well, an old theory resurfaced in full force. For those hoping to see the Star is Born actress in all of her Cyberpunk glory, you’re going to have to just sharpen up that imagination because it’s not happening.
In an earlier interview, UI designer Alvin Liu told Wccftech that Lady Gaga just wasn’t happening. When asked if the singer would be involved in the open-world game in any way, it was a firm no despite the dev admitting she’d probably be a really good fit.
“The game follows the story of V — a hired gun on the rise in Night City, the most violent and dangerous metropolis of the corporate-ruled future. A robust character creator will allow players to choose V’s gender, visual appearance, character class, as well as historical background — all of which may influence the shape of the game,” the summary reads.
“With dozens of hours of main story arc quests, and many more of additional activities, there’s always something to see and do in Night City. Players will experience all of it entirely through V’s eyes, with an interactive dialogue system that gives them greater narrative agency.”
Thoughts on Gaga’s now confirmed no-role? Sound off over on Twitter @DirtyEffinHippy. As for the game itself, CD Projekt RED’s brand new IP officially arrives on April 16th, 2020.
