NIS Classics Volume 3 Includes Rhapsody and La Pucelle Ragnarok

This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information

During today’s New Game Plus Expo 2022, the next volume in the “Prinny Presents: NIS Classics” line was announced. This third set, set to release in summer 2022, comprises two of NIS’ most historically significant titles. We’re talking about Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure and La Pucelle: Ragnarok.

Rhapsody is one of NIS’ earliest RPG titles, and is the first of the “Marl Kingdom” series. This game was originally localized and published by Atlus in North America for the PlayStation, before NISA published its own games. It was later remade with a different battle system for the Nintendo DS. Geared towards younger players, Rhapsody is a low difficulty strategy game with a big emphasis on vocal music sequences over FMV cutscenes.

La Pucelle Ragnarok is the PSP version of La Pucelle Tactics, a version that was never localized for North America. Originally released and localized for the PlayStation 2, La Pucelle is seen as the precursor to Disgaea, NIS’ flagship series. The Ragnarok version has added content, such as Disgaea character cameos and some additional storytelling.

Prinny Presents: NIS Classics first started with Phantom Brave and Soul Nomad. The second volume isn’t quite out yet (set for May 10, 2022), and comes with Makai Kingdom and ZHP: Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman. These games are all fan favorites, a weird but true statement for an already niche developer (in North America).
