Nintendo made good on its promise to reveal the latest Super Smash Bros. game, which is being developed in conjunction with Namco Bandai for both the Wii U and 3DS.  What we didn’t expect was the introduction of a new challenger.

The trailer, though brief, featured Mario, Link and other favorite Nintendo characters in action, while also introducing a pair of new combatants, the Villager from Animal Crossing and Wii Fit trainer.  The game will also feature new stages from various Nintendo franchises, including The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword’s Skyloft.

Perhaps the biggest surprise, though, came in the form of a legendary hero entering the ring – Mega Man.  Capcom’s Blue Bomber will make his Smash Bros. debut, complete with an arsenal of tools and his faithful companion Rush.

We’ll have plenty of new details in the months ahead.
