New Xbox Leak Suggests Cyberpunk 2077 Will Be Available On Xbox Game Pass At Launch (UPDATED)

It looks like Xbox Portugal may have spilled the beans a little bit early regarding Cyberpunk 2077 being available on the Xbox Game Pass at launch.

UPDATE: The team behind Xbox Portuguel issued an apology, seen at the bottom of the article.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on the Xbox Game Pass at launch, at least if the information posted by the official Xbox Portugal account is accurate. In a now-deleted tweet from the localized account, the Xbox Portugal handle responded to a fan saying that the upcoming CD Projekt RED adventure will be a Game Pass addition from day one.

Though the original tweet was deleted, the internet is forever which means a screengrab was taken and posted up by renowned industry insider: Nibel. In the screenshot, it can be seen where the text roughly translates to “You can try to recreate that work of art with the Xbox Game Pass. Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on launch day.”

With the original tweet having been deleted, it’s unclear what the first part of that message refers to but the latter half rings loud and proud. Whether or not Cyberpunk 2077 would be on the Xbox Game Pass has been a circulating question for a while now but it would make sense for that to be the case. Microsoft has an exclusive marketing deal with Cyberpunk 2077 and the Xbox Game Pass has seen momentous success since day one. The service posts all first-party titles being included in that library at launch so it’s possible that this prerequisite could extend to marketing exclusives as well.

Given that the tweet has been deleted, and quickly might we add, it’s clear that if this information is true it wasn’t ready to be made public. Likely because this news this far out from release would result in many cancelled pre-orders. Why pay full price when you can get it included in a membership already paid for in addition to a ton of other titles.

For those that might not have the Xbox Game Pass yet, it’s an amazing membership service that gives gamers a chance to enjoy unlimited access to many games, including the 360 titles, for just $9.99 a month. This service also includes first-party titles being available at no additional cost on launch day, including games like Gears of War, Halo, Crackdown, and more. It’s a solid deal and the team over at Microsoft is often running sales on this membership for those that would like to try it out before they commit.

To see Cyberpunk 2077 available as a day one addition to the Xbox Game Pass would be major and hopefully with such an official channel accidentally letting this info slip that the larger global force will push an affirmation sooner rather than later.
