New on Steam | Partisans 1941

Back in September, we did a preview of Partisans 1941 where we touched upon the ways in which the game blends different genres and gameplay elements together. Partisans 1941 is primarily a real-time tactics game, but it also incorporates things like squad recruitment, base-building, resource management, and stealth.

All of these things come together to complement the core story of Partisans 1941.

“As Red Army commander Alexey Zorin you escape a Nazi prison camp. Gather a Partisan squad from soldiers left behind enemy lines and locals. Live with your squad all the way from small sabotage missions to attacks on the occupational forces’ authority.

Play a leading role in an operation initiated by Red Army staff quarters and conducted by all Partisan teams in the area: A strike on the German forces’ supply lines for the frontlines, with the goal of buying additional time for the defenders of Leningrad to prepare against the German attack.”

Adding to that story description from the game’s Steam page, Partisans 1941 is a game that lets you experience World War II from the perspective of resistance fighters on the Eastern Front. Like other real-time strategy and tactics games, combat is challenging in an enjoyable way.

With your Partisans following your every command, you can choose to move your squad together as a group, or move them individually. You can also utilize stealth to ensure the safety of yourself and your squad.

If you’re someone who likes to take your time planning everything out, Partisans 1941 allows you to slow down time. When you aren’t fighting, Partisans 1941 has a rich base-building component to it that we enjoyed quite a bit when playing the game ourselves.

The base is where you live with your fellow Partisans where you can rest, regain motivation, and manage your resources before returning to combat. It helps you connect with your squad and view them as more than pieces on a chess board so to speak.

Combining all of these things together, Partisans 1941 is a game where you can fully immerse yourself in the history of World War II from the perspective of the Eastern Front. If the gameplay sounds appealing, or you’re a history buff looking for a unique WWII game, Partisans 1941 is worth taking a closer look at.
