New Splinter Cell Collectible Description Says A New Game Is On the Way

Looks like a collectible just let the cat out of the bag regarding a new Splinter Cell game on the way.

Looks like a collectible just let the cat out of the bag regarding a new Splinter Cell game on the way. Though Ubisoft has been on a successful roll lately with both Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, that hasn’t stopped fans of the iconic Sam Fisher from wondering just where the heck a new Splinter Cell game is. With the Splinter Cell cameo in Ghost Recon Wildlands earlier last year, fans have convinced an announcement was on the horizon – though that speculation has yet to see fruition. At least until this handy dandy collectible description went up.

GameStop, a retailer that has accidentally leaked info in the past about upcoming games, just made another whoopsie when they listed up a new set of Splinter Cell Goggles up on their site. Though the description has since been altered, the original mentioned: “For the first time since the introduction of Splinter Cell in 2002, after nine top-selling AAA+ titles, and with the 10th release on the horizon, this is your first chance to own Sam Fisher’s signature Ultra High-Frequency Sonar Googles.”

Now, the way it’s worded appears to be an indication that a 10th game is on the way – I mean, it literally says it right there in the description. That being said, there’s one bit of food for thought to consider before getting totally hyped. It’s possible the person that wrote it up didn’t realise another game isn’t on the way/has yet to be announced yet, or it could have just been a noob new-hire. We’ve all been there, it sucks, but what are you going to do?

That, or it really could be another GameStop whoopsie and they just totally tanked Ubisoft’s surprise reveal – a reveal that has been rumored for Tokyo Game Show coming up next week. Until the studio themselves confirms or denies the latest leak, we’re left with nothing but our speculation, but if the description is exactly what it says it looks like we’ll be able to step inside the boots of Sam Fisher once more!
