New KickStarter Project Chaos Drift Looks to Bring Back the RPGs of Old

If you like Final Fantasy, you might want to check this out.

We’ve seen a lot of KickStarter projects as of late that have successfully made the rounds, from Double Fine’s point-and-click adventure to the Road Rash-inspired Road Redemption to Yacht Club Games’ Shovel Knight.  Now a new project has come along, one inspired by classic 16-bit style RPG’s.

Caleb Stewart, a die-hard fan of role-playing games, is hard at work on a new project called Chaos Drift.  The game definitely looks like an old-school Final Fantasy game, with a huge world to explore, enormous bosses to take on, and the ability to switch between various characters.  Caleb recently uploaded a video on the KickStarter page, talking about what he’s putting into the project.  For good measure, you can also check out a demo of it over at the Chaos Drift page in case you’re curious before donating.

Stewart is looking to raise $20,000 for the project, and though things are slow thus far at just around $600, there’s still 25 days left to go, and it is offering quite a few rewards.  You can check out the page here and see the details for yourself.

We certainly wish Stewart all the success with this project.  After all, I still have a fondness for Chrono Trigger…
