NEOGEO Pocket Color Selection Vol.1 Arrives for Nintendo Switch

If you want Metal Slug ya gotta pay up

Today, SNK released a new compilation as a part of its NEOGEO Pocket Color Selection brand. Previously games have been released as individual purchases, but now those games and four more are all together in one bundle.

This bundle also includes some intriguing new features, which seem to be tailor-made for gaming historians. And a physical release is coming too (sometime)!

NEOGEO Pocket Color Selection Vol.1 Arrives for Nintendo Switch

Titled NEOGEO Pocket Color Selection Vol. 1, ten games are collected together in this new wrapper for a total of $39.99. The previously-released NEOGEO Pocket Color games released are included, which are the following:

  • SNK Gals’ Fighters
  • Samurai Shodown 2
  • The King of Fighters R-2
  • The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny
  • Fatal Fury First Contact
  • SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millenium

The four new titles are the following:

  • Metal Slug 1st Mission
  • Metal Slug 2nd Mission
  • Dark Arts
  • Big Tournament Golf

The features presented in the original releases, such as local multiplayer, touch controls and rewind are all included here. The new features are, besides obvious stuff like a new UI housing all the games, historical information such as interactive, 3D models of the game cartridges and even original packaging.

There’s also a monochrome option for any game originally released for the NEOGEO Pocket. Also, presumably, the “Vol. 1” in the title means SNK is at least hoping to do a second set. Please join me in sending good vibes for Card Fighters. Thanks.

What do our readers think of this news? Is $40 reasonable for those who bought the other ones earlier, or is this kind of a bummer? Are you gonna wait to see if LRG or some other outfit does a physical release? Let us know at Prima Games’ Twitter and Facebook feeds.
