Neil Blomkamp Directing Live-Action Halo Pilot?

A news story indicates that the director will return to familiar territory.

Director Neil Blomkamp has certainly made an impact in Hollywood in just a short amount of time, with two inspired science fiction films to his credit – District 9 and Elysium. Now, it appears he’ll be headed into Halo territory, according to a story from the Latino Report.

Blomkamp was originally tapped to direct a feature-length Halo move several years ago, but instead directed a few promotional live-action shorts for promotions tied in with Microsoft. According to the story, Blomkamp will direct the pilot for the forthcoming live-action Halo series, which is being executive produced by Steven Spielberg.

The series, initially announced last year at E3, is the first of exclusive programming being prepared for Microsoft systems, including the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. With Blomkamp on board, it would certainly get a big boost whenever it debuts.

We’ll have more information – and details on the show – as soon as they’re available.
