Microsoft Won’t Allow PEGI 18 Games Onto Windows 8 Store

Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to play them on the OS

Microsoft has said Ixnay to PEGI 18 games on its Windows 8 Store, which means no Dishonored, Skyrim or Mass Effect 3 to name a few.

“Your app must not contain adult content, and metadata must be appropriate for everyone. Apps with a rating over PEGI 16, ESRB Mature, or that contain content that would warrant such a rating, are not allowed,” the Windows Store app rules stipulate.

“Windows Store apps are appropriate for a global audience.”

You will still be able to play PEGI 18 games though; you’ll just have to buy them somewhere else. Let’s hope it stays that way and Gabe Newell was wrong when he said he thinks “Windows 8 is a catastrophe for everyone in the PC space.”
