A report suggests that Microsoft is lifting the curtain on a new rival to the iPad very soon.
The tablet will allegedly be revealed at a super-secret event taking place on Monday at 3:30 PDT, so says a source speaking to The Wrap.
The mysterious informer has said the device will run Windows RT, a version of Windows 8 built specifically for tablets. Apparently the tablet will only allow software purchased from the Windows Store, which means no Firefox or Chrome.
Microsoft has been talking up its impressive-looking SmartGlass technology, which enables all sorts of wizardry, interaction and streaming between the Xbox 360 and or other Windows-based devices. It’s highly likely the as-yet unnamed Windows tablet will make us of this tech.
Microsoft is planning to launch Windows 8 onto PC and tablets sometime later this year.
