Metal Gear Solid 4 detailed, a bit

“No place for Hideo”
This article is over 19 years old and may contain outdated information

Apparently the “No place to hide” line we’re to be hearing a lot over the coming months isn’t Hideo Kojima trying to tell us he’s going to come round our houses,  but is, in fact, a hint at a new location.

Apparently the game will deliver a lot more than just bells and whistles in the graphics department, with “more conceptual things or even spiritual elements”.

Kojima spoke about next-gen technology during a promotional tour for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, saying he was “coming up with ideas and concepts based on what I think these machines might be”.

Speaking on the line “No place to hide” Kojima stated that it was referring to the setting of the upcoming title. “We’re not going to tell you where yet, but [it’s] a setting where your response will be, ‘Oh my god, how do you expect me to hide here?’ When you do actually hide in that environment, it will be very thrilling and tense,”

Perhaps disappointing some fans of the series Kojima noted that the fourth-wall breaking references we know so well will perhaps be featured a lot less in the next title since there’s “no place for Hideo”.

On the film-referencing quirks we saw in MGS3, Kojima explained “It’s purely for the fans,” admitting that his decision to take a step back from such control will make a difference “All the references and humor come from me so you probably won’t be seeing it in Metal Gear Solid 4.”

We’ll let you know everything we can as it comes, though it’s very early days so don’t be expecting a playable demo anytime soon.
