Konami have revealed plans to bring out Metal Gear Online as a standalone release in Japan.

The game, says IGN, will be released on 17th July and will cost 1800 Japanese Yen, which is about $16 US dollars.

We know nothing yet of an American release of the add-on, but apparently, according to Eurogamer there are “plans” for a European one, so it could happen here too.

The beans were spilt on the issue during a signing session, where Metal Gear’s hallowed creator Hideo Kojima was speaking. There’s also set to be a tournament named Metal Gear Online World Championship 2008, we’re guessing it’ll be this year, and will run round the world.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is out now, why not take a few moments to look over our games hub for more on the game.
