Marvel’s Avengers Studio Teases PlayStation 4 Exclusive Items

We got some hands-on time with Square Enix's Marvel's Avengers and it looks like PlayStation 4 players will have a special treat!

Square Enix finally unveiled their take on the Marvel-verse, Marvel’s Avengers, during E3 this year and though the initial reception was underwhelming, we’ve been learning more about the upcoming game in a way that seems to be proving naysayers wrong. During PAX we had a chance to get some hands-on with the game and our overall opinion changed dramatically only to plummet since I’ll be playing on PC and apparently PlayStation 4 players will be getting all of the good stuff.

When speaking with some of the development team behind the upcoming Crystal Dynamics/Square Enix game, one dev teased to Prima Games a unique surprise ahead of those playing on the Sony platform. “We can’t say what it is yet,” teased Square Enix, “but those playing on PlayStation 4 will have an exclusive surprise that we think players are going to love.”

What that surprise is remains to be seen, but given all of the alternative outfits and a growing roster of characters post-launch, it most likely is an exclusive hero skin or unlockable character. Whatever the content is, this PC player is a little salty but I’ll do my best to get over it. Time heals all wounds.

Marvel’s Avengers officially arrives on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on May 15, 2020. Are you excited for Square’s unique take on the Marvel-verse separate from the MCU we’ve come to know and love throughout the past decade? What are you hoping for most out of the new adventure? For more about Marvel’s Avengers:

“Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

“Marvel’s Avengers features a cinematic story, complete with the high-octane action that Crystal Dynamics is known for. Featuring regular content updates, the game will take players on an epic journey delivered over multiple years. This is what’s next for the Avengers.”
