Don't need much to run this Marathon. Heh.

After its delay from 2025, Bungie has now opened the pre-orders for Marathon, their upcoming extraction shooter set in Tau Ceti IV. Like other live-service PlayStation titles, Marathon is coming to other platforms day one, and it turns out you don’t need much to run it on PC.

Here are the system requirements for Marathon, which are fairly light.

Although these early requirements don’t provide a lot of detail, it’s reasonable to assume that the recommended specifications are for 1080p and 60 FPS. For that, you’ll need an RTX 2060 with 6 GB of VRAM paired with a Ryzen 5 3500 and 16 GB of system RAM.

On the lower side, you can get some form of experience on a GTX 1050 Ti paired with a Ryzen 5 2600. There is no word on the storage requirements just yet, but I expect it to be over 50 GB at least.

Marathon Pre-Order Bonus

If you pre-order any edition of Marathon, you will receive the following cosmetics:

  • ZERO STEP 004 CE Tactical Sidearm Style
  • ZERO STEP RC Weapon Charm
  • ZERO STEP SHIFT Weapon Sticker
  • APOGEE INTERCEPT Background
  • APOGEE INTERCEPT Emblem

Marathon PC Release Date

Marathon is coming to PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PS5 on March 5, 2026.

Overall, I’m pretty happy that Bungie is ensuring Marathon is playable on lower-end hardware as well, and I hope these early requirements point toward a scalable and performant title. Marathon has a very attractive art style, which, paired with some excellent lighting, has been a highlight of the upcoming release.

When he isn't spending an unhealthy amount of time in Slay the Spire, he's probably trying out yet another retro-shooter or playing Dark Souls for the 50th time.
