Madden NFL 25 – How to Set Up Blitzes

The best ways to set up blitzes quickly!
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

The key to defense in Madden NFL 25 is being able to effectively blitz your opponent. This means to send more pass rushers than there are pass blockers. We show you the best ways to set up blitzes quickly!

5 COVER 0 BLITZES

COVER 0 INDICATES THAT THERE IS NO SAFETY SUPPORT IN THE DEFENSIVE SECONDARY. TYPICALLY SIX OR MORE DEFENDERS ARE RUSHING THE QB.

Most Cover 0 blitzes don’t require any defensive adjustment. A good example of this would be the 3-4 Over—Sting Pinch. In the play art you can see that every defender is matched up in man-to-man coverage. We aren’t required to do anything for pressure to get in against our opponent. Sting Pinch Zone is the complementary blitz; it brings the same pressure but has zone coverage behind the blitz.

4 SHOW BLITZ

ONE OF THE MOST UNDER-USED TOOLS IN THE GAME, THE SHOW BLITZ COMMAND IS SOMETHING WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

The Show Blitz command allows your defense to get into position extremely quickly. Most defenses in the game provide a Bear defensive front when Show Blitz is called. To show blitz simply call a coverage audible and then hit left on the D-pad. We use Show Blitz because it gets our defenders into the same position each time before the snap of the ball. This allows us to disguise coverage as well as blitzes.

3 MANUALLY MOVE DEFENDERS

DEFENDERS WILL RESET BACK TO THEIR ORIGINAL POSITIONS IF YOU PLACE THEM TOO CLOSE TO THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE.

A great example of manually moving defenders is from Dime Normal—DB Blitz. We move the slot defenders closer to the line of scrimmage, which results in quicker pressure on the QB. The movement is slight, but it makes a huge difference between getting to the QB or not. We also like to do this with safeties, as they typically have unique blitzing angles, which can help them get to the QB faster.

2 DEFENSIVE LINE CRASHES AND SHIFTS

DEFENSIVE LINE CRASHES AND SHIFTS ARE GREAT FOR CREATING OVERLOAD BLITZES.

There are four different line shifts and crashes in Madden NFL 25. You can shift and crash your line in, out, left, or right. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. Line crashes and shifts are independent of each other, which means you could shift your defensive line in but crash them out. Typically we crash our defensive line towards where we want to bring pressure. An example of this would be to call Cover 3 zone from 4-3 Stack. Shift and crash your defensive line right. Next you would blitz the ROLB. With this setup we are looking to bring pressure off the right edge of the line of scrimmage.

1 GLOBAL LINEBACKER COMMANDS

THE QUICKEST BLITZ IN THE GAME TO SET UP IS FROM THE NICKEL 1-5-5 FORMATION.

The fastest way to generate pressure in Madden NFL 25 is by using the global linebacker commands. With these commands you have the ability to blitz all linebackers, blitz the ROLB, blitz the LOLB, and hook zone all linebackers. It’s important to use global commands so that you don’t have to individually click on each player to make an adjustment. You could be controlling a safety but still hot route your linebackers to blitz. One of our favorite formations in the game to do this from is the Nickel 1-5-5. Globally blitz all your linebackers and you will have instantly created an overload blitz that will get to the QB.
