Lil Yachty is developing an action heist movie based on Uno. Yes, you read that correctly, the card game Uno.
Lil Yacthy Developing An Action-Heist Movie Based on Mattel’s Card Game Uno
This report comes from Variety. Below is a quote from Lil Yachty on his involvement with the project.
“I’m so excited to be part of this film with Mattel,” said Lil Yachty, a musician best known for the songs “Broccoli” and “iSpy.”
“I played Uno as a kid and still do today, so to spin that into a movie based on the Atlanta hip hop scene I came out of is really special. It hits close to home for me.”
Uno is a game many people know and has been played around the world since its inception in the 1970s. While Mattel is no stranger to having its products be turned into movies, this one is certainly a surprise given its genre.
The screenplay is penned by Marcy Kelly and takes palace in the unground hip-hop scene of Atlanta.
Uno will join the ranks of Magic 8 Ball, Barney, Hot Wheels, and a few others as products turned into movies.
What will this end up looking like? Who knows, but it’s sure to be interesting.
