Games are delayed all the time, and most of us probably don’t fully trust an announced release date anymore. We’ve almost come to expect a delay announcement to appear on social media, usually paired with a long message and a subdued background.

But sometimes the opposite happens. Potentially for strategic reasons, WB has moved LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’s release up by a week.

LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight Has a New Release Date

Originally set to launch on May 29, 2026, Warner Bros. Games has announced that LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight will now release on May 22, 2026, instead. Here’s the brand new trailer confirming the announcement:

The new trailer doesn’t really have much in it besides the announcement. May 2026 is a fairly crowded month, with several notable releases alongside 007 First Light, Forza Horizon 6, and Bubsy 4D. 007 First Light launches on May 27, 2026, and if I had to guess, WB Games likely moved the release date up to avoid clashing with it.

Either way, whatever the reason for this new release date is, it’s good news for everyone looking forward to the latest Batman release from TT Games. LEGO Batman titles have always been a blast, and the Legacy of the Dark Knight takes the bricked crusader to an open-world setting, much like Rocksteady’s Arkham Knight. It also features similar combat mechanics and plenty of fun traversal options.

LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight Platforms

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). It’s also confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2, but doesn’t have a release date just yet, which is a bit surprising because we now have a new global date, but not for the Switch 2.

The new release date also changes the advanced access release date. If you pre-order the deluxe edition, you can start playing on May 19, 2026, now. This means you’re technically going to play the game even earlier than its “original” release date if you pre-order the deluxe edition.

2026 is already packed with some incredible releases, and we’re only a few months in. From everything I’ve seen so far about LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, it’s shaping up to be TT Games’ most ambitious title yet, and the jump to open world has even me excited. It’s still a shame that there is no online co-op, especially when there is so much potential for it, thanks to several playable characters, but I can only hope that the next TT Games title is the one that changes that.

When he isn't spending an unhealthy amount of time in Slay the Spire, he's probably trying out yet another retro-shooter or playing Dark Souls for the 50th time.
