We announced earlier this week that Kaz Hirai, looking to “lighten up” in his workload over at Sony Computer Entertainment, has dropped a pair of his labels and is technically leaving the company, though he’ll still be on board as CEO and president of Sony Corp.
During his little farewell shindig, Sony presented Kaz with an interesting little surprise, which was first shown on the Twitter account of Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios. As you can see, it’s a slickly made custom PlayStation 3 system with a red and white design, kind of like a Pokeball but without that annoying center button.
Sadly, it looks like only Kaz will be reaping this reward, as Sony has no plans to release the system to the public. In fact, it’s been quite a while since we’ve gotten a new model PS3 in the U.S., hasn’t it? Aren’t we due to get a cool blue system? Or a red one, at the very least? Our gaming center needs some color in it.
