Since Hogwarts Legacy’s initial announcement in 2020, the community has heard several release dates, followed by delays from 2021 to 2022 and, lastly, 2023. While Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software initially launched Hogwarts Legacy for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S this past February, it wasn’t planned to release until April for older consoles. According to a more recent announcement, there’s an additional delay.
Hogwarts Legacy Experiences Further Delays For PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Launch
A recent announcement in the official Hogwarts Legacy discord revealed that the game needs more time to deliver the game on older consoles. With an initial release date of April 4, 2023, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, this date has been pushed back one month to May 5, 2023. Currently, this delay only applies to these two consoles, as there have been no further updates on whether the Nintendo Switch will receive a delay.
The official Hogwarts Legacy Twitter revealed this information shortly after, confirming this announcement. However, further information on why this delay is occurring has yet to be released.

As of now, Hogwarts Legacy is still open to play for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox X|S players since its launch on February 7, 2023. The Nintendo Switch has yet to get another official delay, with its launch still set for July 25, 2023. While the Switch may also experience this in response, this announcement focused solely on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, meaning there may be future posts regarding the handheld console.
Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch through the official website.
