The good news – the Grand Theft Auto Online experience you’ve been waiting for is here. The bad news – it may not be quite the experience you’re looking for yet.
Grand Theft Auto 5’s online portion has officially gone live as of earlier this morning on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. To start it, you need to put in the game disc and download a game update, which will take approximately 60 MB and a couple of minutes to get. Once activated, simply head to the option in the game menu, and you’ll head into the Online world.
That said, it isn’t entirely operational yet. Many users are reporting problems with Online, between server troubles and bugs. Some aren’t able to access the servers at al, receiving a message stating, “The Rockstar could servers are unavailable right now.” Others are running into time-out messages, saying, “Timed out joining session. Please return to Grand Theft Auto 5 and try again later.”
You’ll still be able to create your character, but may experience one of these problems. If you do, please be aware that Rockstar is aware of these issues and working to resolve them as soon as possible. “We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this,” said the company on its official support page.
We’ll keep you posted as these errors get resolved, but in the meantime, download the update and give it a try. It’s free of charge, so it never hurts to give it a shot.
