Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.29 Set For February 21

For now, the complete list of content that the 1.29 update will bring is not known, but what is certain is that it will add support for PSVR2! Unlike the previous game in the series, Gran Turismo Sport, which had a separate and very limited VR mode for the first PSVR, Gran Turismo 7 VR Mode for PSVR2 will allow the complete game (except for the 2p split screen) to be played in virtual reality.

Gran Turismo 7 was released last March for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, but the new VR support will only be available on the next-generation system and PSVR2. The next PlayStation VR system boasts cutting-edge VR technology, featuring 4K HDR OLED screens, sophisticated eye-tracking technology, and “foveated rendering,” which allows for detailed rendering of only what you’re currently looking at. Thanks to those solutions, the performance will be smooth, with even 120fps.

In addition to the opportunity to play the complete campaign, license tests, and all other existing content from Gran Turismo 7 in VR mode, this update will also bring a completely new VR Showroom where you will be able to walk freely around your cars and inspect their details on 12 new VR backgrounds. The car models in Gran Turismo 7 have an insanely high level of detail that you couldn’t even notice without using the Photo Mode, so we’re looking forward to this new mode where we’ll be able to take a closer look at the impressively realistically modeled car interiors.
