Ghost Recon Breakpoint Gets Biggest Update Yet, Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher Returns

Chill out, hang out, kill some things with Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher. A normal Tuesday.

Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher is back with the latest update to go live for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Much like he did in Wildlands, Fisher brings a whole host of new abilities and a new narrative for players to enjoy in addition to new options that “fundamentally change how you play the game.”

The new mission, should you choose to accept, is called Operation Checkmate and will challenge players to tag along with Fisher himself in order to track down the Strategist, the latest Bad Guy (TM) to crash the party. According to Ubisoft about the latest pairing seen in Breakpoint: “Together, they uncover a plot to develop mind-controlled military drones, and they will have to stop its development on Auroa. The Adventure will introduce new stealth-focused gameplay elements and feature cinematics with the voice of Michael Ironside.”

Deep State, the name of the latest update, also adds two new classes for players to enjoy in both PvE and PvP:

  • The Echelon class – Focuses on stealth, allowing players to move silently to eliminate enemies quietly. The Echelon Class’s special ability, Sonar Vision, helps players detect enemies through walls and disturb drones.
  • The Engineer class – Lets players deal more damage to drones and be more effective with grenade launchers and its special ability, the Defense Drone, will attack nearby enemies, while its class tool, the Supply Drone, provides allies with an extra magazine of buffed ammo.

A new mode is also free-to-play for all players called the Ghost Experience. This is a tactical new mode that is designed to give players the freedom to craft their dream immersive experience in the world of Breakpoint, allowing players to do nifty things like remove their gear level, add a more realistic loot system, and so much more. You can learn more about this new mode and what freedom it offers right here on the official Ubi blog

PvP players also got some new goodness to enjoy with 4 new maps added to the rotation and a new voting option so players can take on the areas they feel are the most enjoyable.

Want to play? There’s a small catch, “The full Adventure will be available to all Year One Pass owners or as a standalone purchase. All players will have access to the first mission and its 2 rewards for free, and will be able to join co-op parties with friends owning the Adventure. In all, ten new exclusive Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell-themed mission rewards will be available for players to earn, provided they own the Year One Pass or Adventure from mission 2 onwards.”

The latest update is now live for Ghost Recon Breakpoint players across Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC systems. Check out the full patch notes right here to learn more.
