GameStop Offering Huge Xbox 360 to Xbox One Game Program

Want the next-gen versions? Pay to upgrade.

Many gamers will take their time transitioning from the Xbox 360 console to the new Xbox One – though some will obviously jump at the chance to own next-gen hardware.  GameStop recently introduced a program for its Power Up Rewards members that will make shifting from one generation to the next a bit easier.

When these customers trade in their Xbox 360 versions of particular games also coming to Xbox One – namely Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25, they’ll receive a minimum of $50 per title, which means they’ll get the new versions for just $9.99 each, a phenomenal savings compared to buying the game at full price.

“This is an amazing opportunity for our PowerUp (PUR) members to enjoy their favorite Xbox 360 game until the Xbox One version becomes available,” GameStop’s senior VP of merchandising Bob Puzon said. “This is a great example of how GameStop is helping gamers make the transition to the next generation of consoles economical and seamless.”

Time will tell if the program is a success, but it’s ideal for those who still want to play their favorite games, then re-experience them on a new platform.
