Free Demo of Chasing Static Available for a Limited Time on Steam

Chasing Static is an upcoming indie horror game from developer Headware Games. On Steam, a free demo of the game is now available. To play it, simply visit the game’s Steam page and look for the “Download Chasing Static Demo” section.

In an accompanying announcement post on Steam from Headware Games it’s noted that, “This short introduction to Chris’s story will be available on Steam for a limited time.”

If you’re just now learning about Chasing Static, the mention of “Chris” is in reference to the game’s protagonist, Chris Selwood. For more on Chasing Static, here’s the game’s official description as found on the game’s Steam page:

“In the dead of night a fierce storm rages across North Wales. Miles from any town, Chris Selwood seeks refuge in a remote roadside café.

Shortly thereafter Chris experiences a horrific sight as he finds the café waitress pinned to the ceiling by something with fierce glowing eyes, he passes out waking up to the dusty old abandoned remains of the café.

Explore the untouched wilderness of rural Wales as you uncover the forgotten remains of a mysterious facility and try to piece together what happened to the missing villagers of Hearth.

Inspired by 80s Sci-Fi horror and contemporary surrealist cinema, Chasing Static delivers a unique take on the narrative adventure genre through new audio driven gameplay mechanics and non-linear exploration.”

Visually, Chasing Static is striking with its 32-bit retro-inspired aesthetic and intriguing atmosphere that urges you to dig deeper into the game’s story, and the demo does a great job at offering a taste of this atmosphere.

You can play the demo over on Steam right now and we highly recommend both checking it out and adding Chasing Static to your Steam wishlist.

If you aren’t someone who games on PC, it was recently confirmed that in addition to Windows PC, Chasing Static will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and Nintendo Switch around Q3 2021.
