Server Stability

After recently surpassing PUBG in concurrent players, Fortnite Battle Royale has seen a huge growth spurt in recent weeks that has caused various server outages and stability issues. Epic is working to address these problems, stating that, “We have changed our release plans & processes to help improve quality of client builds, and scrambled people to make traction on backend scalability by any means possible.”

60 FPS on Consoles

Console players can look forward to playing Fortnite Battle Royale with a smooth 60 FPS frame rate thanks to the forthcoming 60 FPS mode being added later this month. This optional 60 FPS mode will maximize the frame rate of each console while maintaining visual quality on PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, and Xbox One X.

Battle Pass Season 3

After extensive feedback, Epic has decided to adjust the way quests work for the Battle Pass. Starting with Battle Pass Season 3, the second daily challenge will be replaced by a new weekly quest system. This will allow Battle Pass owners to unlock a series of new quests each week that can be completed throughout the season. New Weapons, Outfits, Gliders

The art team at Epic has been steadily working on new cosmetic items for Fortnite Battle Royale. Epic’s update offers a visual preview of some of these items, which include a new Chinese New Year-themed Dragon Glider, a space suit outfit, and a Llama Unicorn Pickaxe.

In addition to new items, Epic plans to spruce up some of the existing weapons and cosmetic items already available in Fortnite Battle Royale, such as the Party Animal Pickaxe, which will now include splash animations.

To balance out the influx of new weapons and consumables headed to Fortnite Battle Royale, Epic will shelve certain weapons in the Vault, which will allow the developers to manage the weapon pool while introducing new ones. The next weapon being locked away into the Vault is the SMG, which “may or may not return” in the future.

New Limited Time Modes in Battle Royale

The Limited Time Modes (LTMs) in Fortnite Battle Royale have been generally well-received amongst Fortnite players since they were introduced back in December. The LTMs allow Epic to test certain gameplay features in Battle Royale while offering players new ways to enjoy the game. Players can look forward to diving back into 50v50 again, with a few adjustments to make it closer to the experience presented in the 50v50 trailer. Here are some of the other LTMs we can expect to see in the coming months:

  • Blitz Mode (shorter matches!)
  • Drop into the first circle
  • Generally less time between circles
  • Team sizes in between 50v50 and squads

Those are some of the major changes coming to Fortnite Battle Royale. With all these new cosmetic items and weapons on the way, you may want to stock up on V-Bucks in Fortnite.
